If there’s one thing I learned from comic books, it’s that supervillains never stay gone. Time after time, Lex Luthor, the Joker and their ilk look like they’re down for the count, only to resurface a few issues later with another diabolical scheme up their sleeve. Same goes for Di-Vine andMain, the Bay Area rhymesayers who make up buzzmaking crew The Villanz. Absent from our pages since making their explosive Booth debut with May 2012’s Go for Mine, the duo returns to wreak some more havoc on new single Lock Down. FunkGhost sets a menacing mood on the production tip, layering eerie harp arpeggios over a street-ready rhythm section as the emcees describe in lurid detail the fate that awaits their foes. Omar Shaikh directs the grimy official visuals. Now that The Villanz are back, are you craving more? You’ll find what you seek on new LP The Neighborhood Heroes, dropping Tuesday (11/19) via Substantial Music Group.
