Producer Says B.I.G. Inspired Production For Rick Ross
April 27th, 2009 | Author: Slava KupersteinProducer Colione of the J.U.S.T.I.C.E. League recently spoke to Vibe Magazine about the impact The Notorious B.I.G. had on the production for Rick Ross' latest album, Deeper Than Rap [click to read].
"We actually went to the theaters and saw the Notorious," said Colion when prompted about the inspiration for Ross' song "Magnificent" [click to listen]. "When we got home, we were inspired to work with B.I.G. So we started making tracks for him and 'Magnificent' was one of the beats that came out. We were like, 'Yo, if Biggie was alive today what would he rap to?' We were actually doing it for ourselves. Actually, our management sent that to Ross."
In a his interview with HipHopDX [click to read], Rick Ross spoke about Biggie's influence on his style.
"A lot of people make those references, and it would be natural for me to emulate Biggie in some form or fashion – me being a diehard fan of his," said Ross of the late emcee. "And most definitely there needs to be a little class, a little dress-up sometimes to give people that energy and that vibe."
In related news, Rick Ross is expected to capture the number one spot on the album charts this week with the debut of Deeper Than Rap.
